Laura Ana Louise Schmelzer (*1994) is an artist who works primarily with photographic
processes. After completing her B.A. in Photography in Berlin in January
2020, she studied Art Therapy at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Dresden.
Her photographic work explores the simple beauty of the everyday and the diversity
of interpersonal relationships. Her conceptual works are mostly investigations into
various socially critical topics (environmental pollution, interpersonal relationships
in digitality) or artistic experiments. Intermediality, i.e. the combination of different
media, characterises almost all her works. She often uses texts or drawings, archives
and found material. She also integrates the materiality of an image and its creation
process into her final works in such a way that both contribute significantly to
the statement of the work and generate meaning.
